Fishing for all species of fish continues to be excellent except for muskies, which hasn't got going good yet. The walleye bite is going strong, and they are hitting on just about any presentation. Jigs and live bait rigs accounting for most of the fish.
We have a good algae bloom now and walleye are being caught during mid day hours, as well as morning and evening. I have experienced and heard of limits of walleye caught from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. Fishing cabbage or coontail edges have been key. Walleyes are even being caught in the reeds when wind is blowing into them for a period of time.
Large perch are again becoming very active as well, and are being caught on a jig and minnow or on 2 inch augertail powerbaits. Larger northern pike have been very active too! Big flashy baits and large suckers on quick strike rigs are working well. Bass are active deep, as well as in heavy cover. Jigs, soft plastics and powerbaits are all producing bass. Panfish are going nuts! Bluegills are in deeper cabbage beds, and crappies are suspended deeper on the weed lines. Good luck!
